There are many beautiful places that should totally be on your bucket list without putting a hole in your pocket. 

Breathtaking view, crystal blue waters, fewer crowds and beautiful sunsets at a unique island with the chance to travel, it sounds like a dream come true!

So, here are some places in Southeast Asia that you probably didn’t know that looks just like the Maldives, but cheaper!

Palawan – Philippines

Not only will you get the most blue and clear waters and amazing beaches, but you can also enjoy mountains, tropical jungle, cliffs and a vast array of tropical flora, fauna, fish and coral. With daily flights to and from Manila, this beautiful island makes for a perfect, relaxing vacation with many exciting activities to keep you entertained whilst you’re there. It’s a whole lot cheaper than the Maldives, that is for a fact!

Rawa Island – Malaysia

This beautiful island is actually owned by the Johor Sultans 👑 Located just 16km from Mersing, this idyllic destination is a place for marine life and is part of the Sultan Iskandar Marine Park.

This island has it all: emerald sea, white sandy beaches, remarkable sunsets all in front of you. 

Rawa Island is a coral island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. Nearby islands include Harimau and Mensirip. "Rawa" is the local term for white doves, which are abundant in the island. Rawa is a relatively small island. There are no proper roads, only a few walkways. Perfect for a honeymoon Vacation!

There’s also a huge jetty with slides and rocky cliff sides if you’re up for an adventurous jump, or a volleyball net to have a nice game with your pals and many other water activities as well!

Pasir Timbul – Indonesia

In the middle of the sea, surrounded by azure blue waters, prevails a little island that you may not heard of.

Pasir Timbul Sandbar resembles just like a photo taken in the Maldives!

You will be able to have a picnic and snorkel in the waters surrounding the sand bar.

With the size of 150 metres square, this fascinating destination is located at Raja Ampat and has shallow waters which are perfect for first-time swimmers.

In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the sea, there lies a little island that is hidden to many. For a few hours a day, when the tide is low, this little island emerges out of the ocean. There are no cars but everything you need from chalets to cafes, diving shops and massage huts are all within walking distance!

Mabul Island – Malaysia

When you hear “Mabul Island” you think of visions of pristine clear water, swinging coconut trees and delightful water bungalows come to mind.

Located off the southern coast of Borneo, Mabul Island could just be the beach heaven that you have been dreaming of.

You can’t even tell that this isn’t The Maldives right!?

Pulo Cinta – Indonesia

Pulo Cinta literally means “ Island Of Love” In Bahasa Indonesia. 

So it is safe to say that Pulo Cinta is the beach destination for honeymooners and couples! 

You can forget the Maldives, you are sure to feel like you are in a luxurious retreat on this private island! Soft, white sandy? GOT THAT! Pristine, clear blue waters? GOT IT! Beautiful sunsets and astounding marine life? GOT THAT TOO!

So what’s there not to like especially you do not have to be in The Maldives!

Belitung – Indonesia

Well-known for its white sandy beaches and clear blue waters, Belitung has become one of the most famous places in Indonesia. 

Indeed, the island (and all the tiny islands surround Belitung island) is gorgeous!

The waters here are excellent even for non-swimmers or first-time swimmers, as there’s almost no current and big waves.

There is more than just island hopping and snorkelling.

You can also explore Tanjung Tinggi beach, go to the interesting colourful Museum Kata and visit the pretty white sandstones at Lake Kaolin!
